We'll share with you the beginnings of Hopscotch Quilt Shop (a shop run by a 15 year old high school student), our journey into the world of design and the stories behind the quilts we have created. Plan your workshop weekend to include an entertaining evening trunk show with a dynamic Mother/Daughter team.
Harvest Wheat Runner – 6 hours
Explore the world of needle turn appliqué using freezer paper while creating a stunning wheat runner. Heather and Elissa will walk you through basic piecing for putting your runner together and then share their favorite appliqué technique of needle turn appliqué using freezer paper on top of the design shape. Thread and needle options will be discussed, as well as preparing shapes for appliqué, perfect points and appliquéing corners.
It Just Makes Me Happy - 12 hours
This exciting quilt covers a range of interesting techniques. Learn to create your own unique “happy” quilt by using beads, tucks, buttons, paper piecing and curved piecing.
Happening Hexagons – 6 hours
Experiment with black and white prints to create a stunning hexagon lap quilt. Learn to cut and piece 60 degree triangles working with a regular ruler and a 60 degree ruler. Strip piecing, accurate centers, print contrast and angle piecing will be covered in the workshop. Pattern includes table runner version.
Peppermint and Chocolate - 6 hours
This exciting Hopscotch design is published in our second book, Double Take: Quilts With That Hopscotch Twist! The offset star and funky border add a unique twist to the traditional quilt setting. It is compatible with charm squares and jelly rolls. The workshop covers cutting, block piecing and tips for piecing the star points and border. The Shining Stars wall hanging does not have a pieced border.
Working with Wool - 6 hours
Learn the tips and tricks of working with wool while creating our warm and cozy wall hanging “Winter Warmth”. Variations in wool products, felting and layering wool will be discussed. Cutting perfect wool shapes and wool applique methods will be explored in this workshop.
Evening Mist Bag – 6 hours
This distinctive bag includes the techniques of curved piecing using freezer paper, needle turn circle appliqué and creating a uniquely curved bag bottom. Creating your own curved design will be discussed in the workshop. Kits available.
Paper Piecing – 6 hours
Learn the tips and tricks of paper piecing while creating a terrific lap quilt from Christmas Quilts from Hopscotch. The class will introduce three different paper pieced shapes which cover single unit and multi-unit paper piecing. Foundation options, stitch length, pinning and fabric selection will all be covered in the workshop.

Pinwheel Pizzazz—6 hours
Explore the techniques for creating speedy and accurate pinwheels while creating this amazing quilt/shower curtain or our Taste of Turquoise table runner.
All About Stars—6 hours
Learn to cut and piece an assortment of stars to create one of our stunning star quilts. Also covered in the workshop will be creating new blocks through color placement and techniques for making pieced borders that really fit.
